Directory methodology

How we verify listings and handle corrections.

Heat & Plunge Pros separates evidence about a business from ownership of its directory profile. This page explains what our labels mean, which sources qualify, how offices and services are evaluated, and how a public record can be corrected.

Two separate questions

Evidence status is not ownership status

Independently verified
The business identity, eligible service work, exact office, and a direct contact method passed our first-party evidence gate and a separate review. The profile shows the date of that review.
Provisional
The profile was approved for limited public use, but a service assignment or complete office address has not passed the full independent gate. Provisional profiles are visibly labeled, excluded from verified-supply counts, omitted from business structured data, and marked noindex while unresolved.
Claimed or unclaimed
This says whether an authorized business representative has passed ownership review. A well-sourced listing can be unclaimed, and claiming a listing does not buy or create an independently verified status.
Featured · Sponsored
This is paid placement. It can affect eligible display order, but it does not change verification, ownership, listing facts, or our evidence standard.

Required evidence

What a verified listing must establish

A verified office must be supported by current, readable, first-party evidence tied to the same business. Before the verified label is applied, the retained sources must establish:

  1. Business identity. The company name and website belong to the business being listed.
  2. Performed work. The business explicitly says it performs each directory service assigned to the profile.
  3. Exact office. A physical street number, city, state, and five-digit ZIP identify the listed office.
  4. Direct contact. A phone number or public email is published by the business on its own website.
  5. Consistent facts. Identity, service, location, and contact evidence must describe the same business without an unresolved conflict.

Search results, maps, social profiles, trade associations, marketplaces, and third-party directories can help us discover a candidate. They do not replace the first-party evidence gate.

Branch-level records

When a location gets its own listing

Each separately listed office needs its own first-party location evidence. A company locations page can support multiple profiles when it identifies each branch clearly; we then verify the address and applicable work for every office rather than treating the parent company as one nationwide location.

A service area, delivery territory, showroom appointment area, or city named in marketing copy is not automatically a physical branch. Post-office boxes and incomplete or conflicting office details do not pass the verified-office gate.

Capability, not association

How we assign service categories

Category evidence must describe work the business performs—such as building, installing, integrating, repairing, or maintaining the relevant system. Product sales, brand availability, dealer status, delivery, referrals, or membership in a manufacturer locator are useful leads but do not alone prove installation or service capability.

Where an approved owner requests a material service-category change, the published category remains in place until the request is reviewed. We do not infer adjacent services from a broad wellness label or from another branch's specialty.

Before and after release

Independent review and publication controls

A separate review reopens the retained evidence and checks identity, performed-service proof, office details, contact information, duplicates, and internal consistency. Automated release checks then guard the directory's required fields, duplicate-office rules, verification counts, indexability, and structured-data boundaries.

Evidence is dated because websites and business operations can change. A later correction, a failed source, or conflicting new evidence can trigger re-review, a label change, or removal from indexable supply.

Updating the record

How ownership claims and corrections work

Anyone can report an incorrect address, broken source, closed office, duplicate, or unsupported service through our directory correction form. Include the profile URL, the fact that appears wrong, and a first-party source when one is available. We review the report against current evidence before changing verification or core business facts.

Business representatives can submit an ownership claim. Approval is manual and requires a passed control such as a company-domain email match, a callback through a first-party phone number, a website or DNS token, or supporting business documents when needed.

After approval, an owner can maintain ordinary profile and contact information. Business name, office address, website, and service-category changes are held for review and leave the existing public value in place until a decision is recorded. Claim approval verifies control of the profile; it does not by itself prove every owner-supplied statement.

Important limits

What our verification does not mean

Verification is a directory evidence check, not an endorsement, ranking, warranty, background check, or promise of project fit. Unless a profile expressly cites current support, Heat & Plunge Pros does not independently certify licensing, insurance, bonding, permits, pricing, availability, reviews, ratings, warranties, safety, code compliance, or health outcomes.

Before hiring, confirm the current office, project coverage, credentials, insurance, permits, scope, price, and schedule directly with the business and the appropriate local authority.
